Alessia Cara

Her debut song Here came out in 2015. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and the public. The song reached the top spot in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the most memorable songs of 2015. That same year, she released her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs which peaked on the Billboard charts including The Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. In an interview that Cara did together with Rap Up, the song had a lot of significance for a lot people who listened to her personal story of learning to accept and love your self. Cara includes messages of kindness and loving yourself throughout her songs. The music she sings is reflective of her personal struggle with mental illness and insomnia. According to a Reuters Interview, her album has been described as a halfway tumultuous, half perfected. Therapy made her stronger and she encourages others to do the same. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian heritage. Her parents gave her guitar at the age of 10 and this ignited her love for music. Three years later at 13 she began performing her favourite songs via YouTube one of the biggest media platforms to show the world that she had the talents and courage to become a singer. One of the songs Sweater Weather got her attention by a record label named EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create songs.
