The singer released her debut single, Here in 2015, when she was just aged 19. The track was highly praised by critics as well as fans. The song reached the top spot on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song among the 2015's Best Songs. In the same year, she released her first album Know It All, the single Scars to Your Beautiful ranked on the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200. It was also one of the original five songs. The song was unique since a lot of people reacted to the interview she did with Rap-Up about her struggle in learning to love and embrace her. Cara integrates messages about love and kindness in her songs. Her music is a reflection of her personal struggle in dealing with anxiety and depression. In an interview with Reuters she said that her album was "half tumultuous" and "half flawless". She claims she has grown through therapy, and encourages others to seek help when they need it. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents have Italian heritage. Her parents purchased her a brand new guitar which she utilized to develop her passion for the music. She started covering her favourite songs at age 13 to prove to everyone that she could sing and had the courage necessary to be an artist. In fact, one of the covers Sweater Weather was able to get her noticed by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create her tracks.
